A large number of VPN services have been rendered inaccessible in Turkey.
Following the restriction of Instagram, Turkey has blocked around 27 VPN services. Turkish citizens are now unable to access filtered websites and social media platforms.
So far, none of Turkey’s official authorities have commented on the reasons for the sudden blocking of these VPN services.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan previously condemned the approach of social media platforms in limiting or removing images of specific political figures, including Ismail Haniyeh, calling it “digital fascism” during a speech.
Many popular VPN services, including ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and Surfshark, are now inaccessible in Turkey and cannot be used in any way. Each of these services has millions of users.

Interestingly, NordVPN officials have denied reports that their service is inaccessible in Turkey, stating that they have not observed any significant disruptions in their services. Apparently, some services, including Proton VPN, are still usable in Turkey.
David Peterson, the General Manager of Proton VPN, told TechRadar that “the use of Proton VPN in Turkey increased ninefold after the Instagram ban, and traffic levels continued to rise over the weekend as people sought to bypass the censorship.”
